Christian Clarke graduated from San Francisco Bay University in May 2024 with a bachelor’s in business administration and has quickly made his mark in the medical device industry as a product specialist at Boston Scientific. Beginning in Liberia, his journey through higher education is a testament to his resilience and determination — traits that have fueled his success in a fast-paced, impactful career.
Christian was studying in China when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Seeking opportunities, he researched universities in California that offered scholarships, which led him to discover SFBU. Christian highlights the three qualities that resonated with him during the application process: SFBU’s prime location in Silicon Valley, its innovative environment where tech and business thrive, and its generous scholarships. As a recipient of a full-ride scholarship, Christian reflects on how “helpful and supportive” the SFBU admissions team was in facilitating his seamless transition from China to the U.S.
At SFBU, Christian came to understand the true value of a diverse learning environment, emphasizing that “diversity itself is very good if a leader knows how to manage it.” This insight shapes his approach to client interactions, allowing him to connect meaningfully with people from various backgrounds. As a product specialist, he collaborates with engineers to design safe materials that enhance patient care and save lives.
Beyond his academic pursuits, Christian was actively involved in the Toastmasters Club, where he honed his public speaking and communication skills. He also loved being part of the Career Club and spoke on how the club advisors connected students with seasoned professors and industry professionals in Silicon Valley.
Reflecting on his undergraduate experience, Christian advises current students: “Believe in yourself, focus on your studies and prioritize your future. Have fun, but don’t forget to network and be the best you can be.”
Now a Minnesota resident, Christian enjoys hiking after work, but admits that he misses the majestic mountains of California. He also loves to sing and work out at the gym. We are inspired by Christian’s perseverance, go-getter attitude and bright energy, which we know will always be felt wherever he goes.
