Applying to San Francisco Bay University as a Graduate Student

This page details the application process for domestic graduate students, including permanent residents and non-immigrant visa holders (A2, F2, H4, L2, etc.) who have received or are on the path to receive a bachelor’s degree this year. If you are an international student or transfer, please visit those pages for more information.
 

Application Process

  • Have received at least a bachelor's degree or are on the path to completing your bachelor's this year, AND
  • Are either a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or non-immigrant visa holder (such as A2, F2, H4, L2, etc.).
     

  • Completed application
  • Unofficial transcript(s) from all previously attended colleges/universities (electronic transcripts sent directly from the issuing institutions are accepted)
  • Good academic standing at the last institution attended is required
  • Bachelor’s degree with a CGPA of 3.0 or above is required; a GPA below 3.0 does not qualify for admission
  • Degree/Diploma (A document certifying the degree earned - Bachelor, Master, Doctoral Level), if applicable.

*Please note, if admitted you will be required to submit an official final transcript before you can begin classes.

Graduate Program Prerequisites

Most SFBU graduate programs require specific prerequisite courses. Students who have completed a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or Electrical Engineering typically do not need additional prerequisites to enter the corresponding master’s program (e.g., BSCS → MSCS).   • Electrical and Computer Engineering, including C Programming, Python Programming, Circuit Theory, and Logic Design
     

Application Review Process

Once the SFBU Admissions Office receives your complete online application and supporting documents, the application undergoes a formal review.

  1. Application Received
    Once you submit your application, you will get a confirmation email. You can log into your applicant portal to track your status and upload any missing documents. 
  2. Application Review
    The admissions committee will review your application to determine if you submitted all required materials (application and transcript(s) from all universities attended.). The committee will determine if you meet the criteria
  3. Decision Notification
    We will notify you, usually within 2-3 weeks of completing your application, of your admissions decision. If you are accepted, you will receive a decision letter and SFBU scholarship award (if applicable).
