Stephanie L. Krusemark, Ph.D., has more than 20 years of experience in higher education and brings a passion for diversity, equity, inclusion and student success. She oversees Admissions, Student Affairs, Student Success, and Health & Wellness, providing wraparound support to students throughout their time at SFBU.

Peter Maribei
Senior Director of Career and Life Planning
Peter Maribei, Ph.D., has worked extensively with multicultural teams to design and facilitate transformative learning and development programs in different languages for college students and working adults in North America and Africa. Dr. Maribei previously held various teaching and student affairs roles at Trinity College-Hartford, Miami University of Ohio, University of San Diego and International Leadership University in Nairobi.
Dr. Maribei employs appreciative inquiry and design thinking in his work and believes that a good education should not only make people good at what they do, but also at who they are. In addition to being a certified coach, Dr. Maribei holds a Master’s in leadership studies from the International Leadership University-Kenya and a doctorate in leadership studies from the University of San Diego.

Evelia enthusiastically leads the recruitment for the Startup Scholars program. Having dedicated over 20 years to the K-12 public education sector, Evelia’s transition to SFBU is marked by a profound sense of privilege in guiding the academic journey of the vibrant Bayhawk community.
Manuel Gomez
Associate Director of Financial Aid
Manuel brings 20 years of Financial Aid Administration at a private non for profit, community, and career college. Originally from Southern California, he has impacted students' lives from various college institutions. He possesses a Masters of Public Administration from the University of San Francisco and a Master of Science from Mount Saint Mary's University. His passion for student success and reducing student loan debt is a personal value. "My biggest compliment is helping students through their educational journey and seeing them cross the stage to receive their degree." He believes that education is an asset and an investment in the future self. Go BayHawks!
Beth Tsang
Licensed Therapist & Clinical Practicum Supervisor
Beth Tsang, LCSW 86295, is a licensed clinical social worker with 18 years of experience working at nonprofit organizations and 12 years providing therapy and clinical supervision in the field of mental health. Tsang is passionate about destigmatizing mental health and increasing access for underserved populations with an emphasis on mental health support in school-based settings. She has a bachelor's degree in clinical and counseling psychology with a minor in child development from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo and a Master Of Social Work degree from San Jose State University.
Mariam Ghazvini
Graduate Student Success Counselor
Dr. Mariam Ghazvini holds an Ed.D. degree from USC, a Master’s degree in Counseling from Santa Clara University, and a Master’s degree in Education from San Jose State University. She is a professional mentor, coach, and distinguished toastmaster. Her favorite areas of research and teaching include Successful Approaches to Leadership, Emotional Intelligence, Management Tactics, and Human Resources Management.
Rebecca Jimenez
Student Success / Cohort Counselor
With six years of dedicated experience guiding first-time college students, Rebecca embarked on her journey as an Enrollment Counselor at SFBU in September 2023. Born and raised in the culturally rich East Bay Area, she brings a deep understanding of the local community and a passion for empowering students to pursue their academic journeys with confidence. Through personalized guidance and unwavering support, she is committed to helping students navigate the exciting transition into higher education.
Michael Leinhos
Student Life Manager
Michael has 32-years experience in Education. He has taught at the Middle School, High School and College level. For nine-and-a-half years, he was the SFBU Lead Faculty for General Education. Michael has been the Chair of the SFBU Faculty Assembly since its inception in 2018. While being a full-time SFBU faculty member, Michael was also the Advisor for five different student clubs. Michael created and facilitated the SFBU Writing Lab. He also co-created and co-facilitated the SFBU Mock Interview Sessions.
In his new role as Student Life Manager, Michael brings a wealth of experience and a second-to-none relationship with the students. His favorite thing about SFBU is the students. He loves to serve and mentor the students and make their experience at SFBU the best it could possibly be.

Partnerships & Career Services Coordinator
Ogai is a skilled professional in the tech industry, specializing in recruiting. With a degree from San Jose State University and an MBA, she has gained valuable expertise through impactful roles at Google and TikTok, focusing on talent acquisition and career development. Her talent for identifying and nurturing exceptional candidates has driven growth in fast-paced environments. Outside of work, Ogai enjoys cooking and creating meals for her loved ones, cherishing time spent with her family. She is excited to share her insights and inspire the next generation of talent in the tech field.
Margaux John
Disability and Accessibility Services Coordinator
Margaux graduated with a B.A. from the University of Northern Iowa, where she studied education, psychology and communications. She received a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling from the University of Iowa. Margaux has worked in education for many years as both a teacher and counselor, focusing on empowering students with disabilities. Her favorite hobbies include hiking, gardening and music.
Evelyn Binoya
Student Support Specialist for Mathematics and Quantitative Reasoning
Evelyn earned her B.S. in mathematics and B.A. in art history from Stanford University, where she conducted research alongside the archaeology and material science departments. She has previously worked at various museums and collections, including the DeYoung Museum and the Smithsonian Institution, where she conducted scientific analyses of various artifacts. With six years of mathematics tutoring experience and a deep passion for teaching and learning, Evelyn is committed to helping students achieve their academic goals while sharing her enthusiasm for mathematics.
Leslie Ji
Student Support Academic Specialist for English
Leslie is passionate about empowering students to find their voice through the vehicle of language, instilling a spirit of confidence with effective communication skills that help them excel academically and in their future careers. Her six-year background in public education and targeted tutoring services enables her to design personalized learning approaches that build student proficiency. Leslie holds B.A. degrees in theatre and dance from UC San Diego and a single subject teaching credential from San Jose State.
