Affordability and transparency are central to our mission, which is why we charge $31,000 less than the average U.S. private school, according to the U.S. News and World Report’s review of 2023-2024 tuition rates. As you prepare to embark on the next chapter of your educational journey, take a moment to review the total cost of attendance.

Undergraduate Cost of Attendance

Starting Fall 2025, we are excited to introduce a new flat rate tuition model for undergraduate students. This model is based on 120 credits required for degree completion. To stay on track to graduate in 4 years, students must carry a minimum of 15 credits per semester. The goal is to simplify pricing, encourage full-time enrollment, and timely graduation by providing a clear and consistent pricing structure.

Please note, additional fees cover registration, campus and learning resources for each semester.

Understanding Your Costs at SFBU

When planning for college, it’s important to consider both the direct costs billed by San Francisco Bay University and the indirect costs you may incur. Here’s a breakdown to help you understand what to expect:

Direct College-Billed Costs: These are the expenses that the college bills directly to you:

  • Tuition and Fees: Mandatory charges that all students must pay each semester.
  • SFBU Housing: Nearby housing owned and operated by SFBU, billed directly to you.
  • Health Insurance Premium: A required fee for all students to ensure you have health coverage.

Indirect/Out-of-Pocket Costs: These are additional expenses that you need to budget for, but are not billed directly by the college:

  • Textbooks/Materials: Estimated to be approximately $150 per course, though actual costs can vary significantly. You will need to purchase your own textbooks and materials.
  • Living Expenses: This includes food, transportation, and personal expenses, which are essential for your daily life but not billed by the college.
  • Miscellaneous Expenses: Other costs such as supplies, technology, and extracurricular activities.

By considering both direct and indirect costs, you can better plan and manage your overall expenses while attending college.

Notes:

  • All students are required to have an adequate health insurance plan. New students will be automatically enrolled in the university's health insurance plan offered by Cigna Healthcare.
  • Refund Policy
  • Health insurance and textbook/materials considerations may possibly reduce the costs noted above. For more information or questions, please contact Student Services.
  • Scholarships:
    • Full-Time Students: Scholarships are awarded on a percentage basis, with flat tuition and scholarship amounts for 12, 15, or 18 credits during the fall and spring semesters.
    • Part-Time Students: Scholarships are prorated based on number of credits (6 or 9 credits), for the fall and spring semesters. Scholarships are not available for students enrollment in fewer than 6 credits.

Graduate Cost of Attendance
