Christine Castro, a first-trimester MBA student at San Francisco Bay University, is already making strides in her academic and professional journey. Her path to SFBU began with a simple internet search for "MBA scholarships in San Francisco," which led her to discover a perfect match. SFBU, located in the heart of Silicon Valley, offers a unique combination of academic rigor, networking, and personal growth opportunities.
Christine’s decision to pursue her MBA at SFBU was driven by a desire for professional advancement and the opportunity to be surrounded by a thriving network. "The Bay Area is the land of opportunity, and I wanted to be in the midst of it," she explains. Christine draws inspiration from K-pop group BTS, whose message of growth resonates deeply with her. "Growth to me is about making my younger self proud," she says, a mindset that fuels her drive to fully take advantage of everything SFBU has to offer.
As an SFBU Brand Ambassador, Christine is now in a full-circle moment. She recalls once reading student success stories on the SFBU website and now aims to inspire others with her own journey. "I want to bring people like me to the Bay Area," she says. Through this role, Christine hopes to share the value and opportunities that SFBU offers with future students. In addition to her ambassador role, Christine is Vice President for Marketing and Public Relations in the Business Club, organizing events and promoting resources for SFBU’s students. "I'm always looking for ways to get involved and give back," she says.
One of the things Christine loves most about SFBU is the strong sense of community. She has found a supportive network of faculty and staff who are genuinely invested in students’ success. "The community here is amazing," she says. "When I first arrived, many Filipino staff members reached out to make sure I felt welcomed, which made a big difference in helping me feel at home."
Christine's academic background includes a degree in Communications and Technology Management from the Philippines, where she gained valuable experience through internships and case competitions. After graduating, she worked at Klikit, a startup in the Food and Beverage (FNB) sector, where she helped small businesses streamline their order management systems. This role deepened her interest in marketing, and now, as an MBA student, she is focused on expanding her skills in this field.
Outside of academics, Christine is a K-pop fan and foodie who enjoys discovering new dishes. Despite her busy schedule, she prioritizes rest to recharge. Her life motto is simple: "Remember your why," which she believes is key to overcoming challenges.
For Christine, SFBU has been the perfect place to continue her academic and professional journey. With a wealth of resources, a strong sense of community, and ample growth opportunities, she is sure that her time at SFBU will be a pivotal chapter in her ongoing personal and professional growth.
